Roseburg High School's gym was packed on Saturday, as boys and even some girls wrestled to support a school program.

The Roseburg Mat Club hosted a fundraiser for the high school's wrestling teams. Roseburg Mat Club Treasurer Andi Thomas says the Mat Club helps cover the team's traveling costs because of school budget cuts.

She says over 270 wrestlers participated in the event, including kids from California and Washington.

Thomas says local wrestlers throughout Douglas County from Glide, South Umpqua, Oakland, Glendale and a few others arrived for the challenge.

Wrestlers were between the ages of 3 and 16, and had to pay an entry fee to compete.

The results from Saturday's Wrestlemania won't count towards their season's record.

The Roseburg Mat Club is a major feeder of the high school program, which is the defending state champion and an early season favorite to win the title again.
