Beavers down Bruins on Ortiz slam

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Ryan Ortiz hit a grand slam with two outs in the eighth inning to lift Oregon State to an 8-7 win over UCLA on Sunday.

The slam was Ortiz's third of the season, with the last one coming against Pepperdine on March 21. He added an RBI double in the fourth as the Beavers improved to 24-19 overall and 11-10 in the Pacific-10 Conference.

Joey Wong added a two hits and two RBIs for the Beavers.

Reliever Taylor Starr was credited with the win and Kevin Rhoderick pitched the ninth for his 11th save.
