NASCAR race draws big crowd in Roseburg

ROSEBURG, Ore. - Eric Holmes from Escalon, California, came back from a flat tire to take the victory in the Toyota/Bi-Mart Firecracker 150 Friday night at the Douglas County Speedway.

Holmes led for the first 98 laps of the race, and had to come back and battle his way by Jason Bowles on lap 142 to get the victory. That was his fourth victory this season in the NASCAR Camping World Series West.

Johnny Borneman of Ramona, California won second place, and Bowles ended up in third.

Holmes led most of the night, staying in front for almost 100 laps before he had to go to the pits with a low tire.

Holmes had to work his way through the field but finally caught Bowles with 8 laps to go, and cruised to the victory.

Holmes' lead in the championship standings is 71 points, with Bowles in second place.

1. Eric Holmes, Escalon, Calif., Toyota, $9,050.

2. Johnny Borneman, Ramona, Calif., Ford, $4,000.

3. Jason Bowles, Ontario, Calif., Ford, $3,400.
