It's official, high school sports in Oregon will be getting a makeover next fall. The OSAA Executive Board approved the new alignment on Monday and the changes are set to take effect in 2010.

Roseburg will join the Southern Oregon Conference Hybrid with Crater, Grants Pass, North Medford, South Medford, Ashland and Eagle Point. The Comets will move up to 6A next season, but Ashland and Eagle Point will remain 5A. All teams will play each other, but only the games with teams in their classification will count toward the postseason.

Local 4A fans can relax as no changes are planned for the six-team Far West League, which will still include Douglas, South Umpqua, Sutherlin, North Bend, Siuslaw and Brookings-Harbor.

Glide and Reedsport will be placed in the 3A/2A Sunset Conference Hybrid with Bandon, Coquille, Myrtle Point, and Gold Beach. Both Reedsport and Gold Beach will drop to 2A, while the other four schools will stay in 3A.

The Mountain View Conference will now have 11 teams with mainstays Glendale, North Douglas, Oakland, Riddle, Yoncalla, Monroe and Oakridge. Crow will join the MVC along with three local schools including Days Creek, Milo Academy and Canyonville Christian.

Camas Valley, Elkton and Umpqua Valley Christian will remain in the 1A Skyline League. They will be joined by Lifegate Christian, New Hope, Oak Hill, Pacific and Powers.

The OSAA's new alignment will run through 2014.
