Roseburg is one step closer to earning a trip to the 6A volleyball state championships after the eighth-ranked Indians beat Reynolds 25-18, 25-19, 25-18 during an opening round playoff game Wednesday night at Stewart Robertson Memorial Gymanasium in Roseburg.

Demi Belshe, Bre Thomas and Devan Belshe combined for 29 kills and teammates Lynsey Johnson and Courtney Huthcins each had 18 assists in the victory.

The Indians travel to Portland on Saturday for a match with second-ranked Jesuit.

Elkton had its season come to an end after dropping a 1A playoff match to Mapleton 14-25, 19-25, 25-18, 25-22, 17-15.

"We came out on fire," Elkton head coach Sam Whipple said. "The girls just lost their focus in game three and the slide continued the rest of the way."

The Elks Hannah Parker had 11 kills and five aces, while Rachel Winslow added 11 kills and eight assists.
