ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Douglas County Youth Football League closed their first ever year of play, hosting their championship games this weekend.

The fifth grade Winston Trojans took on the Melrose Strikers at Finlay Field in Roseburg, and Winston got on the board early. During the first quarter, Dylan Boyter handed off to running back Wyatt Morris, who took it downfield 33 yards for a touchdown, putting the Trojans up 8-0.

Still in the first, Melrose executes a fake that everyone, including the camera person bit on, sending the Strikers' Lane VanAnroy down the field for a 50 yard touchdown to even it up 8-8.

Winston goes on to win it 22-16 over Melrose, the Trojans picking up their first ever championship.

In the 6th grade game, it was Fremont Blue taking on the Winston Trojans following the fifth grade team.

Fremont jumped out to an early lead when running back Brice McFadden took the handoff and broke through the Trojans defense, taking it 17 yards for the touchdown.

Fremont shut down the Trojan's running game, picking up their first ever 6th grade championship 26-0.
