ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Junior Micah Audiss has played nearly every down this season, and his steady, exemplary leadership on the field makes him our Athlete of the Week.

"This year we're just pulling together, playing more as a team. It's more of a family than individual players, everyone has their strengths, and those strengths are just pulling together for everybody," said Audiss.

This year, he has proved his strength has been bolstering the receiving core, after Coach Bell transitioned him to wide receiver. "It was a little different, I never played any other offensive position. So, I just tried to be flexible and it turned out working okay."

For the backup QB, it was an adjustment, but numbers don't lie. His five interceptions and a handful of touchdowns this season have shown he's the go-to guy on both sides of the ball.

The three season athlete's 3.9 GPA boasts more then his intelligence on the gridiron.

The wide receiver credits his father for pushing him towards academic excellence, but says his homework load creates some late nights. "One injury can just cost you your whole career, and so if your basing everything on sports, then you can't really have anything to fall back on."

Audiss hopes to someday pursue a career in engineering, but for now his main focus is on the second round of playoffs.

The Indians play at West Salem Friday night.
