PORTLAND, Ore. - Roseburg wrestlers won four individual titles Saturday at the Class  6-A State Wrestling Championships at Memorial Coliseum in Portland.

The Indians had the team title pretty much wrapped up before the finals even began with more than a 100 point lead over second place, and they came close to setting an all-time record for the most points ever scored in a state championship tournament.

Two Indians wrestled each other for the 119-pound title.  Senior Dan Faas won a state title for the second year in a row, decisioning freshman teammate Reed Van Anrooy  6-3 to grab their first individual championship.

At 145, Seth Thomas capped off a spectacular year, by easily winning over Yulerick Sorensen of Sprague in a technical fall.

Twins Dylan and Devan Fors both won state titles.  Dylan defeated Jose Cruz of Grants Pas 6-2 in the 160 final, and Devan took the 189 championship with an 11-0 major decision over John Hatch of Newberg

In the 125 pound class, Roseburg's Drew Van Anrooy lost in the championship match 4-3 to Tommy Siciliano of Newberg,  twice thought he had the winning take-down in the last few seconds, but was ruled out of bounds once, and and as Siciliano scrambled to  to run away from Van Anrooy to try to run out the time.  Van Anrooy finally caught up with him and got the take-down, but the official ruled it was after time ran out at the end of the match.

At 135, defending champion Sam Mecham lost a heart-breaker 4-2, to Blake Borsberry of West Salem, the same wrestler he defeated in the championship final last year.

In the 152 pound class, Jay Tovey lost in the final 10-2 to Corey Ellison of West Salem.

Coach Steve Lander was honored as the 6-A Coach of the Year.

Roseburg ran up 298.5 points to win by 129.5 over second place Newberg with 169.  North Medford was a surprise third-place finisher with 120.

Roseburg finished second in the state tournament last year, after winning the two previous years, and with many of the 22 wrestlers they took to the state meet this year coming back next season, the future continues to look very bright.

A celebration honoring the team and coaches, was held Monday evening at the Student Center at Roseburg High School.
