September 13 7:00 PM Pioneer Park, Canyonville, OR 97417 541-839-4501 rossjoe@hotmail.com http://ibluegrass.com/bg_bands2.cfm?b__i=956
Roseburg-based musician Joe Ross & his sidekicks are on a mission to preserve and perpetuate our American musical heritage, demonstrate pioneer instruments, present journal/diary readings related to pioneer music and dance, and “edu-tain” audiences of all ages.

Join us in Canyonville’s Pioneer Park for a fast-moving, interactive, fun-filled and festive evening to see, hear & experience our American folk heritage based on well–researched & historically accurate music played in the 1800s. A variety of instruments will be used (such as fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar, concertina, dulcimers, autoharp, harmonica, jew’s harp). Hear interesting facts and stories about Lewis & Clark Expedition, Oregon Trail, & Applegate Trail as Ross relates pioneer journal and diary readings that mention music, dancing, and fiddling! An hour-long set of traditional bluegrass & gospel music by the popular Umpqua Valley Bluegrass Band will close the show.

Join us for an entertaining evening full of singing, clapping, and plenty of Down-Home Pioneer Musical FUN! Bring your own chair, blanket, picnic & refreshments. Bleacher seating is also available.

The concert is funded, in part, by the Kielhorn Trust of the Oregon Old-Time Fiddlers Assn. FREE admission but donations accepted to benefit for the Canyonville Pioneer & Indian Museum (at 421 W Fifth St in Canyonville, OR 97417).
