Event Description

I would very much appreciate it if you could use any part of this announcement of our upcoming Bazaar.(November 12-13.). Thank you. The United Methodist Women of Roseburg's First United Methodist Church

The United Methodist Women's Annual Holiday Bazaar is an institution in Roseburg. Some of the oldest members of the First United Methodist Church were asked what year the church first sponsored the Bazaar, and no one could say for sure! They all said, "as long as I can remember!" The church relocated to the West Harvard site in t964- following the 1959 blast that damaged the church in it's previous location on Lane St. Certainly the Bazaar has been held every year since then. The women of the church begin early in the year making quilted table runners, place mats, and sewing aprons, embroidering dishtowels, etc. for the craft booth. When the fruit and berries begin to ripen, the women begin their jam and jelly making for the popular "Country Store" where they sell over 700 jars of canned jams, jellies and preserves, as well as all kinds of homemade baked items, contributed by the church members. There is a Treasure Chest where gently used gift items, antiques and collectibles are offered.
This year the Bazaar will be Thursday, November 12th, from noon until 8 p.m. There will be a full course dinner served from 5 till 7 pm, featuring home made pie for dessert. On Friday, November 13th, the Bazaar will open at 10 am and the lunch menu will be clam Chowder, a Vegetarian Minestrone, Rolls, Salad, and again, home made pie. The Friday hours are 10-2.
This annual event is the major source of income for the charitable givings of the United Methodist Women. Locally, Fish Pantry, Battered Persons Advocacy, Casa De Belen, Rescue Mission, Douglas CARES, Family Development Center, and Habitat for Humanity all benefit from our Bazaar. Information can be obtained by calling the church office, 672-1629, Monday through Friday from 9-3,
