This was a picture I took on Saturday night at the douglas county races.

Douglas County Speedway Fire at Races

The hornets were racing at about 9:00 pm or so at the Douglas County Speedway,on the first lap when one wiped out and the others didnt see him soon enough then it turned into a big pile-up. One hit so hard it bursted into flames and three of the cars caught on fire. I hurry, stood up and started taking pictures as fast as I could. Luckily all the drivers got out and are safe :)

I as a hornet was watching in the pit area and the grand stand people had a better view of what started the fire in the beginning. Made us a little nrevous about getting on thre track after the fire, but you just have to be brave and just get out.

Someone will end up hurt badly or even worse. I no longer am able to enjoy a hobby near my home, so I travel and spend my money elsewhere. Cottage Grove, or Lebanon. Everyone else should do the same until thing until DCS gets their heads removed.

I have gone to this track once. I was extremely disappointed with the disregard for safety from the officials and some drivers. I only wonder when the county will step in and see to it that it gets safer. The track is an utter JOKE.

I caught a video, about 5 seconds after the cars went up in flames. I was directly in front of the crash.

I didnt mean to call them hornets..but yes very intense.

These were mini-stocks, not hornets. It was a very intense 20 or 30 seconds before the last driver made it out.
