Wildfire stops traffic

On our way home Sunday, July 15th from a family event in Pendleton, OR. we were stopped on Hiway 97 just above Madras, OR. due to a fire that had started from lighting the night before. The fire had jumped the road and had created a wall of thick smoke. We were held for 2 hours. When it started to clear we were escorted single file through the smoke.
It was a dramatic ending for an otherwise great weekend welcoming a new baby girl to our family, and a great-granddaughter for us.
