With so many beautiful sights around Douglas County who could not be in awe. So grab your camera and take a ride, you won't have to travel far to be impressed.
The Winchester Dam and Fish Ladder located north of Roseburg off Hwy. 99 is a must for anyone who can conquer the steps down and back up again. If the beauty of the dam isn't enough in itself, the salmon and steelhead are certain to catch your breath as only a thick plate of glass separates you and the slippery fins. From the inside of the man made cave, you can see the beautiful Winchester Bridge to the south and possibly catch a glimpse of the river enthusiasts who often float the river in the summer months. A pair of ospreys have built a nest upon the top of the railroad bridge that is just west of the Winchester and Interstate bridges. The nest has been inhabited for several years with the pair and their offspring. You just might catch a look at one of them diving for their dinner.
It doesn't matter which direction you travel in Douglas County, you are certain to find beauty and points of interest.
