Cars and Poker bring people back to Glide

Glide Fire Poker Run and Car Show

The little town of Glide Oregon once boomed back in the old logging and mill days but is now a more quiet little community and many businesses and buildings stand empty. But the Glide Fire Poker Run, Barbeque and Show N shine is one of the annual events that brings people back to the small North Umpqua community.
Classic cars lined the street near the Glide community building that runs parallel to Highway 138, a scenic stretch of byway that runs east of Roseburg to Crater Lake. The sound of laughter and revving engines and the smell of barbeque fill the air as spectators enjoyed good food, fun and classic cars. It's exciting to see our little community filled with so many people again, if even for just a day.
