Violent Skies

Violent Skies Over Glide

The sky over Glide turned violent just a little before 4:00 this afternoon. It was exciting to watch the sky as it swirled and churned. At one point a cloud appeared to be trying to form a funnel as it spun rapidly. Thunder rolled and lightening flashed it's angry bolts across the gray swirling sky. We witnessed one bolt of lightening so low that it may have hit the ground near the Glide High School Athletic Field. We heard it snap and buzz as it flashed and the house seemed to vibrate. And then the electricity went out momentarily.
The wind whipped around patio furniture in the neighborhood, knocked down limbs and pushed the rain sideways. And then as quickly as it arrived, it passed and left behind the rain and the tell-tale signs that it had been here and a beautiful sunset sky.
All in all, it was a much needed rain and hopefully it helped the firefighters fighting wildfires more than hindering them.
