The Blast! 5K Color Run

Over two hundred people participated in The Blast! Recovery and Prevention 5K Color Run on Saturday at Stewart Park. Runners and walkers alike were invited to participate in the event which brought out everybody and their dogs including full families, mom's with strollers and yes even their dogs. The Dillion family, John, Kathy, Alex, Grace and Selah from Glide participated in the event as a family and crossed the finish line holding hands and raising them in the air.

The event included a color blasting area where participants could choose to add a blast of color to their bodies. The festivities of the event included some awards, musical entertainment and information booths.

My daughter Melodye Saxton of Glide made a healthy life style change in February as she decided she was not going to accept the over-weight family gene she inherited. Determined not to go on anymore "Fad Diets" she adopted a healthy way of eating, began walking daily (rain or shine)and joined the YMCA and a local Zumba class in Glide. She now has added short jogs to her exercise habits and has lost 55 pounds and is still reducing. Melodye was joined in the 5K by her friends Joselyn Pace of Glide and SoulElaine McGonagle of Springfield Or, The Blast! Color Run was a first for all three of them.
