my dad mike at the roseburg memorial

one great veterean

This is my father michael eakin, he's a 100 percent disabled vietnam veteran. Ever single year ever since I was just a little girl I would go with my father to all the memorial day ceremonies. And every year it get's harder and harder to attend them with my father because he how much it affects him in everyway. One thing that really got to me this year about memorial day was listening to the radio or TV, All I would hear is " hurry ! hurry ! there's a big three day memorial day sale ." and even though these things are enjoyable one thing is missing , The real meaning of memorial day. It's not a day to go shop and make big savings. It's a day to reflect and remember all those fallen soldiers who graciously gave their lives for our freedom. and I beleive a lot of people have forgotten that. thankyou
